Stay Involved in your Child’s Educational Experience

Parents, this can be accomplished by actively monitoring their progress 24/7.

“Involvement encompasses various aspects, such as regularly asking your children about their school day and homework,” Greder emphasized. “Establish a consistent time and place for studying, and engage with teachers and school counselors to stay informed about your child’s progress and discover ways to support their success at home.”

These proactive steps are crucial not only for academic achievement but also for helping at-risk students stay engaged and avoid dropping out. According to the latest data from the National Center for Education Statistics, the dropout rate for students aged 16 to 24 was 6.6 percent in 2012. Alarmingly, Latino students experienced the highest dropout rate at 12.7 percent, followed by Black students at 7.5 percent.
